Whether you are first, second, or third-time parents, decorating a nursery should be a fun and happy experience for all parents. In this blog post, we want to highlight how we can prepare you for one of the best moments of your life. For some parents, there were so many things they wish they knew before they started decorating their nursery.

We want to give you the inspiration to make your nursery more comfortable and relaxing, whether you are looking for baby nursery ideas for small rooms, thinking about a more neutral color palette, or perhaps looking for something more colorful and bold. Planning all those little details such as, "where should I place the baby's crib?" to "where can I put the baby changing station?" will help prepare you for the next exciting chapter in your life.

Tips for decorating your nursery

We recently asked a few parents what they wish they knew before decorating their newborn's room, and here are some amazing and helpful tips, we think you should know before you start.

  • Keep everything close to hand.
  • Keep all essential items near the baby changer.
  • Comfort is always important.
  • You can never have too much storage
  • Keep it simple – there will be a lot of walking back and forth.
  • Any light can be a nightlight – just get one of those nightlight bulbs.
  • Choose a VOC, non-toxic wallpaper.
  • Delegate the most difficult jobs to others; you should not be lifting anything heavy

Safe wallcoverings for a child's environment

You may be worried about those sleepless nights to come, but don't forget, you will be creating the greatest memories that will last you forever. Imagine those evenings, comfortably relaxing in your nursery chair and those picture-perfect moments that will last a lifetime.

Decorating your nursery should be a fun and thrilling experience. Perhaps you have a theme in mind, a choice of color, maybe you are inspired by a jungle landscape theme or would prefer a gender-neutral nursery design.

No matter what you have decided, or not for your nursery makeover, we are here to help and give you the inspiration needed for your nursery. When deciding on a pattern, a wallpaper that is VOC free and non-toxic is recommended, and ours are precisely this.

What does VOC mean?
VOC stands for Volatile Organic Compounds, these organic chemicals can easily be released into any surrounding of your home, and some VOCs are not only dangerous for human health but can also cause harm to the natural environment.

Our wallpapers are VOC-free
We are happy to say that all our wallcoverings are VOC and toxic-free, making them environmentally friendly and causing no harm to the nature around us. This makes our wallpapers the perfect choice for any nursery and kids' room.

Our wallpaper paste is so friendly, you could eat it
With every order, we also include our own wallpaper paste that is non-toxic and made from modified potato starch. Learn more about how environmentally friendly our production is and read more about our sustainable wallpapers here.

Have all the important items near your baby changer. You won't regret it!

When Elshane and her partner were expecting their firstborn, they were super excited to contact us, and once we heard all about their inspirational collab idea for their nursery, we couldn't resist helping them. Part of their nursery concept was to create a gender-neutral nursery theme that exuded personality, and part of this was to feature an accent wall that gave flair and character for their baby's room. For them, we were able to create a bespoke design that matched their ideas beautifully.

When we received lovely news of their baby's arrival, we were so delighted to get images of their nursery room complete, plus adorable baby photos. We were so amazed by their photos that we couldn't wait to share them with everyone.

This nursery layout illustrates how essential it is to have all items close to hand, especially at their baby changing counter. Their storage solutions are generous and very well placed.

Storage and comfort is essential

We were so delighted to help Landrie with their nursery renovation, but unfortunately, the day before the birth of their daughter, they suddenly had to evacuate their home due to flooding from Hurricane Harvey. This natural disaster sadly ruined their original nursery, including their beautiful choice of wall mural, our Bellewood design. We were happy to replace a new wall mural for them and after nearly seven months, Landrie and her family were able to move back into their home, and their daughter had a new nursery refitted for her.

Landrie says "Our baby girl was able to see her nursery and that show-stopper wallcovering for the very first time. Everyone who sees it loves it, and we share with everyone how our friends in Sweden were instrumental in getting our baby girl's nursery back".

You can never have too much storage space, especially in a nursery room, and for Landrie, this was a key factor for their nursery renovation. This stunning nursery room emphasizes how important it is to use all storage areas. Their chest of drawers features a convenient baby changing station, whilst each drawer keeps all necessary nursery items close to hand. Nursing time will be wonderful and certainly less stressful.

Comfort is necessary for any nursery, and don't forget you will be spending a lot of time here. A rocking chair in the corner creates an ideal and relaxing area for cuddles and late-night feedings. We also love that our mural, Bellewood, has created a wondrous and impactful nursery feature wall.

Wallpaper panels for a dreamy nursery room

After deciding to redecorate two rooms in their bungalow, the first was their boy’s shared bedroom, and the second was the nursery for baby number three, which at the time they were expecting. For Marie, creating areas where they can relax in comfort was a priority, this was perfect for those late evenings, whilst also providing an area for them to spend time together as a family. Investing in blackout drapes and low-watt bulbs was also a recommendation and a wonderful suggestion. After having two children, this is a great tip from third-time parents.

We love how our wallpaper May Meadow, Pastel features a stunning panel design, surrounded with an elegant gold border, this trim beautifully highlights every decorative panel that adds a touch of sophistication and glamour to every piece.

Don’t forget the fifth wall and choose a ceiling wallpaper

Why not wallpaper the ceiling? When you think about it, it is not such a bad idea. Babies spend a lot of time lying on their backs in their crib, and at an early age, adding any decoration here can help ignite their imagination and creativity at a younger age. Our nursery interior below shows a slanting wall with our wallpaper design Floral Alphabet, perfect for a young Einstein.

If you are thinking about wallpapering the fifth wall in your nursery, simply measure the width and length, just like measuring any other wall. You can view all our ceiling wallpapers here.
