Tell us about your background as an interior designer. What inspired you to pursue this career?

"I began my career in fashion design at the Academy of Fine Arts, drawn to haute couture and scenography. My passion for design and choreography led me to create costumes and stage sets for dance performances and fashion shows. Eventually, I transitioned into interior design, combining my love for scenography with home staging and design. This journey led to the creation of Lilla Home, a brand focused on transforming unique real estate pieces into ready and furnished apartments, each with its own story. My goal is to design spaces that resonate deeply with their future owners, creating interiors that feel personal and meaningful."

How do you incorporate your personal design style while meeting the needs of your clients?

"Currently, I do less projects for individual clients than I used to, in favor of creating my own, which I then prepare for sale. This allows me to spread my wings and act fully without any limitations. With that being said, throughout many years of my work as an interior designer, I have learned that working for an investor is a process that requires being humble and understanding the needs of the other person. This is not about fulfilling one's wants but about listening to the real needs of the owners for whom the design is being made. I often used to say that a designer’s work is 20% of the commission, whereas the rest is the job of a psychologist. Empathy and the ability to listen and set boundaries - when the client is lost in their wants - all play a huge role in this job. I do not impose my aesthetic on my investors directly but rather point them towards a few paths while symbolically shining some light on one of them to make its choice easier and more natural for them. At the same time, I believe that clients who choose Lilla Home know my aesthetic, and because of the style they are familiar with, they choose my studio, not others."

What role do textures and patterns, like those from Rebel Walls, play in your overall design philosophy?

"Textures and patterns are key elements in my designs, often setting the tone or adding the finishing touch. I usually start with wallpaper, which becomes the focal point that guides the rest of the interior. For example, in the Vintage Park apartment, I designed a kitchen around a semicircular wall by choosing a Rebel Walls wallpaper that echoed the curve, creating a unique and striking space. A well-chosen wallpaper can transform a room, adding depth, character, and a sense of wonder. For me, patterns and textures are essential in creating interiors that people love to return to."
