Kids' Room Ideas: Decorate a Reading Nook for the Adventurer

March 07, 2017

Use materials and patterns from nature to create a sense of adventure

We’ve created a cozy reading corner for children where a tipi, crowned with a pennant banner made out of wallpaper samples from our Storytime collection, creates the perfect starting ground for exploration. The wallpaper we chose as a feature wall – Wild Willows – shows a beautiful forest scenery, and in combination with well made wooden toys, and accessories in durable natural materials, the setting is in place to have a great adventure together.

PremiumStorytime_2 Explore local thrift stores and vintage shops for worn but beautiful objects like these wooden animals.

PremiumStorytime_3 Soft fabrics will enhance the natural feeling. Add braided baskets for toys, blankets, and books. Or keep them safe in storage boxes that imitate nature in a playful way – like these boxes in the shape of snow-covered mountains.

PremiumStorytime_6 The pennant banner adds to the playfulness of the reading corner! Make use of old wallpaper scraps, or wallpaper samples (that you can order on The banner is a fun project to have together, and easy to make, even for kids, with the instructions in our guide: Rooms for Kids – 3 Styles for Children's Rooms.
